Strata Ground
A general model that has never seen a division order is not much use to a land department. This is the layer that fixes that.
Infrastructure is table stakes. The reason customers renew is that the system is measurably good at their work, and can prove it.
What the layer contains
Evaluation suites
Task-specific test sets built on real operating documents — not generic benchmarks. You see accuracy on your kind of work before you commit, and you see it again every time we propose a model change.
Retrieval and indexing
Ingestion and indexing tuned for the document types the sector actually runs on: logs, AFEs, JOAs, division orders, gas contracts, inspection reports, incident logs.
Connectors
Read paths into the operational systems already in place, so the model works against live data rather than a stale export nobody maintains.
Representative tasks we evaluate against
| Task | What it replaces | Why it is hard for a generic model |
|---|---|---|
| Contract abstraction | Manual review of gas purchase, gathering and processing agreements | Sector-specific clause taxonomy and defined terms that do not appear in general corpora |
| Land and title summarisation | Analyst review of leases, assignments and division orders | Chain-of-title logic and instrument types that require domain grounding |
| Well and log interpretation support | First-pass technical review | Numeric and curve reasoning combined with local geological convention |
| HSE and incident reporting | Manual drafting and classification | Regulatory taxonomy and consistency requirements across filings |
| Operational Q and A | Searching across SCADA exports, run tickets and maintenance logs | Reconciling structured telemetry with unstructured field notes |
Built by people who run the assets
Strata sits inside a group that operates compression, gathering and generation in the Permian Basin. The domain layer is not researched from the outside — it is built against documents and telemetry from assets under our own operation, with the operators who use them.
That is also the honest limit of the claim. The energy layer is deep because we live in it. Other verticals are built the same way, one customer at a time, and we will tell you plainly where a suite is mature and where it is new.
